Museum volunteers are crucial to the success of museum operations and programming. Over 100 volunteers ranging in age from 17 to 90 assist Museum staff in various departments including Education, Marketing, Public Relations, Curatorial, Operations and more.
The Museum seeks volunteers from all backgrounds-not just those who have specific interest in the arts-to handle a variety of projects. We have opportunities for Volunteers in the following areas:
Visitor Services Volunteer
Visitor Services Volunteers assist with Museum entrance and provide information to visitors, fielding questions ranging from local attractions to where to find a good seafood restaurant. Training provided. Skills: Willingness to work with the public; good communication; a ready smile, familiarity with St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay area a plus.
Office Volunteer
Office Volunteers help with general office work including museum mailings, organizing packets,and data entry. Skills: Good organization; accuracy, willingness to work on extended projects.
Special Events Staff
Special Events Volunteers help to support the museum's wide range of development, educational and social events (Surreal Fridays, musical events, Film Series, Teacher Days, etc.) by preparing and serving refreshments, promoting memberships, etc. Skills: Willingness to work in social situations on evenings and weekends a plus.
