In celebration of the 400th anniversary of the publication of the first volume of Miguel Cervantes' "Don Quixote de la Mancha", the Salvador Dalí Museum will be presenting an exhibition titled, Tilting at Windmills: Dalí Illustrates Cervantes' 'Don Quixote'. This exhibition is on display in the Raymond James Community Room through January 2006.
This exhibit will display several editions of the book (illustrated by Dalí) and over twenty lithographs and etchings from the 1950s-1970s including Dalí's first lithographic suite, Pages choises de Don Quichotte de la Mancha, published by Joseph Foret in 1957. Information about Don Quixote and the life of Miguel Cervantes will be provided, as well as documentary photographs capturing Dalí's experimental production techniques. Also on display will be a rare example of Dalí's bronze sculpture, The Soul of Don Quixote, cast in 1985.
